Description
Two boys. One pond. Zero common sense.
In the summer of 1964, twelve‑year‑olds Jimmy Carlson and Billy Hartwig hatch a plan so daring—and so spectacularly flawed—that it will echo through Ogema, Wisconsin for generations. All they want is a perfect day of fishing at the old mill pond. All they need to do is skip school, dodge the hall monitor, sneak past half the town, and avoid getting caught.
Easy… right?
Wrong.
What begins as a simple escape turns into a full‑blown comedy of disasters. All of Jimmy’s plans resulted in; a lure stuck in Billy’s cheek, Billy’s unforgettable plunge into the pond, a sinking tackle box, a raccoon with an attitude, and a small‑town search party convinced the boys have vanished off the face of the earth.
Now muddy, injured, and very much out of ideas, Jimmy and Billy must figure out how to get home before their parents—and the sheriff—find them first.
